Unicorn Medicine: Creative Writing for Queer and Trans Folks makes space for queer and trans folks to write history in the making as we are experiencing it, heal our depleted selves in a supportive community, and magic revolutions into being.

With a strong commitment to confidentiality and craft, these workshops generate creative writing which spans genres—from memoir to poetry to short stories, from science fiction to playwriting to novels.

The Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) workshop method values every writing voice using a clear structure which creates non-hierarchical safer space for all participants. In this hands-on workshop for new and seasoned writers, we tap into our authentic writing voices, past the critic, and into the stories our hearts wish to tell.

NOTE: If you're Canadian and paying in US dollars is a hardship, please use the discount code "awacanada" on the $20 ticket option to pay a cost reduced to closer match $20 CAD.

*If cost is a barrier, email info@amherstwriters.org

This is part of the month-long fundraising event for Amherst Writers and Artists, Writers Around the World. Check out the other amazing offerings too! https://amherstwriters.org/events/#!calendar/r

Writing Sex For Trauma Survivors

Writing Sex For Trauma Survivors

Is there a sexy story you’re burning to write or re-write? Do you want to develop your own queer smut, lusty leather poems, or hot role play scripts? Writing Sex for Trauma Survivors is a hands-on workshop for new and seasoned writers who are ready to get their hands dirty with words. With a strong commitment to confidentiality and craft, these workshops generate creative writing which spans genres—from memoir to poetry to short stories, from science fiction to playwriting to novels.

Creative writing about sex can be a powerful avenue for reclaiming consent and recreating stories generated by our own sexual agency as trauma survivors. Holding space to engage with our sexuality and desire in a safe, creative context forms new neural pathways with the potential for healing, community building, and the total annihilation of rape culture.

Alex will structure the workshop using the Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) workshop method which values every writing voice within a supportive, non-hierarchical environment. Come prepared to write about sex, trauma, BDSM, heartache, desire, relationships, healing, and whatever else comes out of your pen, pencil, or keyboard. There will be time to share what you write, but no pressure to do so. Please arrive on time and come prepared with a pen and notebook or a laptop.
